24-inch inkjet sublimation paper is ideal for large-format designs on shirts, suitable for custom team uniforms, oversized graphics, and personalized apparel. Achieving a flawless transfer requires following specific steps to ensure color vibrancy and design durability.

1. Preparations: Design, Paper and Shirt

First, design your pattern in graphic software, adjusting the size to match the 24-inch paper width and your shirt dimensions—remember to mirror the design if it contains text or directional elements. Print the design on 24-inch inkjet sublimation paper using dedicated sublimation inks and a compatible large-format printer. Let the printed paper dry fully for 5–10 minutes to prevent ink smudges. Meanwhile, select a polyester or high-polyester-blend shirt, as sublimation ink bonds best with polyester fibers.

2. Pre-press to Eliminate Moisture and Wrinkles

Preheating the shirt is a critical step that should not be skipped. Set your heat press to 375°F (190°C), place the shirt flat on the press platen, and pre-press for 10–15 seconds. This removes moisture and wrinkles from the fabric, avoiding blisters or uneven transfers that can ruin the final effect.

3. Position and Heat Press the Sublimation Paper

Lay the dried sublimation paper face-down on the target area of the shirt, then secure all edges with heat-resistant tape to prevent shifting during pressing. Close the heat press and apply medium-to-high pressure for 45–60 seconds. Maintain stable pressure throughout the process—this ensures the sublimation ink fully penetrates the fabric fibers.

4. Peel and Post-transfer Care

Immediately after the pressing cycle ends, open the heat press and peel off the sublimation paper while it is still hot (this is called the hot peel method). Let the shirt cool down completely at room temperature. For long-lasting results, wash the shirt in cold water with mild detergent, avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, and hang it to air dry instead of using a dryer.
